Heart Chakra to the Sky

Christmas Day 2020

Soul portrait.

The other night, I did a thing that I haven’t done in a while.

I opened my heart chakra to the sky.

My body experienced this once before, during power yoga teacher training with Kumi in November of 2011.

On my return home from training, I decided to repeat a passive stretch from our session that night.

I placed a block beneath my heart lengthwise, and upon it, lied down.

The sensation was akin to an egg cracked open.

I gasped. A wave of compassion coursed through me. It was rapture.

That night, I had two dreams.

In the first dream, yogis floated about the earth.

As our hearts grew bigger, we became lighter; until we floated into the sky and became stars.

In the second dream, our bodies interlocked to form a matrix stretching tall into the sky (A foretelling of Acro Yoga shapes to come).

It takes courage to trust.

To open the heart that wide, and merge with everything requires true vulnerability.

A heart may be as open or closed as it chooses.

There is a power in expansion.

Yin quality protects me like a thick velvet cloak.

I am not my self.

I am pure consciousness

Beamed through this being.

I am being.
